Did you know that Mark Zuckerberg donated over 400 million to the Democratic candidate in the 2020 elections? Well, I guess I’m not surprised because everything he does through FB or is it Metaverse now, is to silence our freedom of speech, unless of course, you’re obeying their rules and don’t tell truths about what’s going on in this country - that’s called conspiracy - which is another name for truth that they don’t want anyone to know about or dwell on. People might open their eyes and see! That would be a catastrophe.
So, I guess I started out
on a big note… although it’s nothing new as you’ll see when you click on the
link above. But my main point in this blog is a long story that will touch on
many levels, but over a longer period of time. It’s going to be a number of
blogs because all I have to say, and woke up this morning thinking about, can’t
be said in one blog. What did I have on my mind this morning when I woke up?
Sin!
The definition of sin, according to Merriam-Webster is:
- An offense against religious or moral law
- An action that is or is felt to be highly reprehensible (it's a sin to waste food)
- An often serious shortcoming, or fault
- A transgression of the law of God
- A defiled state of human nature in which the self is estranged from God
Numbers 1, 4 and 5 are the
definitions I would look at. Number 2 is ridiculous, but we’ve all grown up
hearing that statement when we didn’t feel like eating anymore at dinner. Our
bodies knew what they needed but our parents thought we had to eat like truck
drivers, hence, the reason why most of us are overweight. Learned disciplines
from our youth have caused most overeating habits. The number 3 definition is a
sad one because many faults we have are physical and we can’t do anything about
them. Some would require surgery or many years of psychotherapy for all the
things we were trained to do as children.
My point is this: sin is anything contrary to God’s laws, or
the Ten Commandments. That’s what they were for… to show us what sin was. Can
we follow those laws? I would have to say no, but even if we could, we’d be
doing it, not God and that’s not what He wanted them for. God knew we couldn’t follow His laws all the
time so He made a way to be reunited with Him – and it’s a free gift – so that
no man can boast about how good and great he is. It was a free gift to us, but
it cost someone His life – Jesus.
So far I’ve pointed to the
fact that there is such a thing as sin. There is a God. There are laws that
tell us what is right and wrong. And there’s a way through it all to bring us
full circle, back to God, Himself. But is it really free? I would say, again,
no. Jesus gave His life! That’s free to us, but not to Him. So it’s really not
free. What do we have to do to get this free gift? Give our lives to Jesus,
that’s all! But that means we now have to walk as Jesus walked. We have to make
choices that our flesh doesn’t want to make (sin) and do what the law tells
us to do to be sin free. Is that free? I would again say no.
Well, then why does God say
it’s His free gift? Simply because God gave
His only Son, Jesus, to die a horrible death on a cross, for many sins He
didn’t even do, so that we could have a way to get back to God. That’s the free
part. Jesus gave up His own life so
that we wouldn’t have to go to Hell for all eternity. Huh? Hell? What’s that?
The opposite of Heaven. God is a God of order, precision, a brilliant
mathematician and He made the laws of physics. For every action, there has to
be an equal and opposite reaction. They call that Newton’s Third Law, but it
was God’s law first.
Okay… so now we have
another aspect of life – Hell! Yes,
there is a Hell. There’s also a Heaven… but that’s for later. So now we have Sin, God, the law telling us
what’s right and wrong, Gods Son Jesus, Jesus’s death on the cross, which is
the free gift to us for all our sins that we have no control over, and Hell and
Heaven.
But, getting back to sin…
If you read Romans 7 in the Bible, you’ll see that sin is impossible to defeat. It’s part of our fleshly body. We are always subject to it whether we like it
or not. There’s no getting around it. Why? To answer that we have to remember
again Newton’s Third Law… what’s the opposite of God? The Devil! So now we have
a Devil too!
Our players so far… Sin,
God, the Law, Jesus, free gift of Jesus’s death on the cross, Hell, Heaven and
the Devil.
I’m going to end here, but
we’ll pick it up tomorrow. There’s way more to understand before you’re going
to see what’s happening right now in our sin
sick world.
